Does the ABR require SA-CME

The ABR has discontinued SA-CME

No. The American Board of Radiology (ABR) does not require Self-Assessment CME (SA-CME) for Continuing Certification.

To meet Part 2 of Continuing Certification, ABR diplomates must earn:

  • 75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ every three years

Previously, the ABR required a portion of CME credits to be completed as Self-Assessment CME (SA-CME). That requirement has been removed.

How is self-assessment completed now?

The ABR considers Online Longitudinal Assessment (OLA) to fulfill the self-assessment component of Continuing Certification. Because OLA provides ongoing self-assessment, SA-CME activities are no longer required when earning CME credits.

What does this mean for Medality learners?

Medality does not offer SA-CME courses.

However, Medality remains accredited to provide AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, which can be applied toward the 75 CME credits required every three years for ABR Continuing Certification.

Radiologists can continue to earn CME through Medality courses and apply those credits toward their ABR CME requirement.
